Black Modern Bobber, Honda Rebel 500 S 2021
KustomGaras x @yve.moto
Hi, I am Yvette 32 years old from Germany, in addition to fitness and a few years ago, I also discovered my personal passion for motorcycles through my boyfriend. Since he also rebuilds motorcycles himself, I was close to the action and was also able to contribute my ideas to one or the other of his bikes.
Of course, he also rides motorcycle and gave me a lift on the pillion. It was such a nice feeling of freedom. But at some point that was no longer enough.
So three years ago, I no longer wanted to be just a passenger, I wanted to drive myself! Even though I had respect for it, I decided to get my motorcycle license. so I got my motorcycle driver's license!
What is the make, model, and year of your motorcycle?
I have a Honda Rebel 500 S from 2021.
What inspired you to customize your motorcycle?
When I finally bought my own bike last year, it was clear that I would also like to make some small changes, because it’s always the case that you don't like the original bike 100% yet. 😉
I've always liked the base of the Rebel, but I've already had some potential for improvement in my head. Probably something also contributed to the fact that I’ve been already close to the topic. Of course, my own motorcycle was also tested directly for optimization.
Can you tell me about the overall concept for your custom motorcycle? What was your inspiration?
I liked the Bobbersytle, so I didn't want to change the basic concept. In the end, it should simply be a small but fine conversion with cleaner and high-quality parts. There was no special inspiration, I should just like it personally.
What specific parts of your motorcycle have been customized?
The exhaust, the seat, the grips and the license plate holder with 3 in 1 LED lights.
Can you describe some of the unique or custom-made parts on your motorcycle?
The plate holder with 3 in 1 LED lights has been the most challenging work on the bike so far because it is not a plug & play part. It had to be customised. For example, the plate had to be milled and the cables had to be reconnected and soldered. But it was worth it. 🙂
What are some of the challenges you faced during the customization process?
The biggest challenge for me was to do things for the first time without previous knowledge. The electronics of the lighting on the license plate holder were particularly challenging for me. So far, I have not had any points of contact with such a work. In addition, the power cable colours of the Honda were not identical to those on the lighting.
There was no description for this for my bike. In the end, it was time to research and try it out yourself. With some help from my boyfriend it worked out!
What is your favorite part of your custom motorcycle? Why?
I would say my exhaust from Miller. It was the first part I changed on the bike and the sound makes a big difference. In addition, the sound on a bike is also one of the things that makes the most fun!
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about customizing their motorcycle?
Just start, don’t be afraid of it! And also don’t be afraid to ask for someone’s help.
If you could change one thing about your custom motorcycle, what would it be?
I wouldn't want to change anything, it has become perfect for me. 🙂
How would you describe your custom motorcycle in three words?
Black modern bobber
What are your plans for the future of your custom motorcycle?
At the moment, just drive and enjoy. But basically, I could also imagine beautiful old-school or stud tires on my bike. That would look also very cool!
