Reflection of Myself - Yamaha Scorpio 225 Bratstyle

KustomGaras The Journal x Fuad Nandiasa

My name is Fuad Nandiasa, I am 29 years old, I work as a designer at a private company in Jakarta. Customizing my motorbike in two workshops, Chemonk Modified in the Kebon Jeruk area & Alincustom in Cakung, the process took about 1 year, because the concept changed several times.

Brand, type of motorbike and year of production?

Yamaha SX225 (Scorpio) 2011

Why did you decide to customize your motorbike?

Maybe because I'm a designer who improvises products every day, my motorbike has become a vehicle for my obsession. Apart from that, I'm not comfortable if something I wear is the same as someone else's or doesn't suit me.

What is the concept, and what is it inspired by?

I was inspired by one of the motorbikes made by a workshop in Japan, the Heiwa MC. For the concept, maybe it's more of a reflection of myself on motorbikes, where I really like Japanese & British culture, I use handlebars from Triumph, large front and rear fenders typical of old British motorbikes, the frame is also slightly lengthened typical of Triumph but it doesn't lose the Japanese feel either. where some of my parts are chrome, depicting fashion culture in Japan which can be said to be eccentric.

What is custom made?

In total from end to end I changed all the details:
  • Handmade frame
  • Handmade front & rear fenders
  • Handmade fuel tanks
  • Handmade electrical box
  • Handmade transmission & brake brakes
  • handmade exhaust
  • Bratzstyle Headlights
  • Bratzstyle signal light
  • Stoplight Aftermarker
  • Yamaha Byson Front Shockbreaker
  • Rear Shockbreaker YSS 340
  • Triumph Handlebar
  • Aftermarket Internal Throttle
  • Harley Davidson Brake & Clutch Handle
  • Handmade seats
  • Ninja 150R front brake caliper
  • Front tire swallow ring 17 size 300
  • Rear tire swallow ring 17 size 350
  • Rear rim scarlet ring 17 size 350
  • Front rim scarlet ring 17 size 250

What part do you like most about this motorbike, why?

The engine, engine parts are often asked about & get the attention of many people, because I completely polish them so they are shiny.

Tell us about the ups and downs of the custom process?

I like it, lots of people have given input about the concept of this motorbike, even my wife has supported me from the start until now. The builders in the workshop are also very helpful in finding parts that can be said to be quite rare and are rarely sold.

Unfortunately, it's a bit difficult to manage time because I don't only work in one office, I have failed several times during the construction process. BTW, this is already the 3rd version.

Do you still have other wishes that you want to apply to your motorbike?

There are several small parts that I want to detail, like the standard parts, the front & rear fender mounts, I plan to change the color and airbrush them too.
